DecaWave Broadens Reach with Digi-Key; Responds to Increasing Demand for M2M Connectivity Technology

Global electronic components distributor Digi-Key Corporation, the industry leader in electronic component selection, availability and delivery, today announced the signing of a global distribution agreement with DecaWave Limited, a semiconductor industry innovator responsible for integrating its IR-UWB technology into its ScenSor line which offers industry-first measurement, indoor location and communications functionality.

Irish fabless semiconductor manufacturer DecaWave has developed its ScenSor family of IR-UWB ICs to provide developers with the ability to locate tagged indoor objects to a precision of 10 cm at a distance of up to 300 m in line-of-sight mode and 40 m in non-line-of-sight mode.

The DW1000 is a complete, single-chip CMOS Ultra-Wideband IC based on the IEEE802.15.4-2011 standard. The DW1000 is the first in the DecaWave ScenSor family of parts, operating at data rates of 110 kbps, 850 kbps, and 6.8 Mbps.

In addition, Digi-Key currently stocks the newly released DWM1000, an RF module integrating the DW1000, antenna, balun, and crystal. This module is ideal for prototyping and low- to mid-volume applications as it reduces development time and, thereby, the need for an in-house RF expert.
