Barcode printer maker Zebra Technologies Corp said it would buy Motorola Solutions Inc's enterprise business, which makes rugged mobile computers, tablets and barcode scanners, for $3.45 billion in cash.  Read Original Content

LG’s smartphone sales are projected to hit an all-time high during the second quarter of this year. New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and U.S. Rep. Dan Maffei are calling on Congress to require smartphone makers to install "kill switches" on phones to render them useless if stolen. Safaricom has so far pre-sold over 300 Samsung Galaxy S5 units ahead of the first ever global launch to be held in the country.  Safaricom says Kenya has in the recent past been named a leading market for smartphones in Sub-Saharan Africa, with over 100,000 smartphone sales in the Kenyan market each month.  Read Original Content

Facebook has been warned it risks alienating users as it seeks to grow the reach of its Facebook Messenger app. The company has decided to remove its mobile app’s messaging capabilities in some European markets so that users have to download Facebook Messenger instead.  Read Original Content

Tablets are expected to make up a large majority of all mobile broadband connections in the U.S. over the next two years, according to NPD Group.  By the end of 2015, NPD analysts expect the number of active mobile broadband devices to reach 34 million, a nearly 50 percent increase from 2013.  Read Original Content
