IXYS Introduces RFID ICs for Specialized RFID Tag Products Expanding the Integrated Circuit ASSP Offering

IXYS Corporation (NASDAQ:IXYS), an international power semiconductor and IC company, today announced the introduction of an IC family designed for the production of RFID tags that perform in harsh and challenging environments.

Products include the NCD1015, which is an integrated RFID tag for harsh environments; the NCD 1025, an RFID IC with integrated temperature sensing and reporting capabilities; and the NCD1100, which is optimized for tags on metals. The RFID ICs are proven to perform in agricultural and medical applications.

These innovative ICs were developed by INCIDE, S.A., a business recently acquired by IXYS and renamed IXYS San Sebastian (‘ISS). More information on the RFID ICs and related products can be found at incide-semi.com or ixys.com.

“Adding RFID ICs and RFID tags to our application specific IC products will enable IXYS to provide essential location and tracking capabilities within customers’ products in the medical, industrial, transportation, telecommunication, security and agricultural industries. We believe our customers will gain a competitive advantage, utilizing our unique low power RFID products that wirelessly transfer information and measurements, even in harsh conditions,” commented CEO Dr. Nathan Zommer. “The combination of RFID ICs and our extensive line of MCUs enables the production of smart digital RFID tags for our target markets.”

“The addition of RF design expertise will be an added competitive advantage for IXYS, enabling the incorporation of wireless connectivity into products, especially for the evolving Internet-of-Things market and applications. We will continue to support our customers with our present products, and expect to add new advanced RF ICs to complement IXYS ICD products,” commented Dr. Javier Hernandez, General Manager of ISS.

These new products will be sold through the IXYS IC sales channels.
