Hortonworks and Red Hat to Demonstrate Engineering Collaboration Progress at Red Hat Summit

OpenShift by Red Hat Integrates with Hortonworks Data Platform, Accelerates Application Development with 100-percent Open Source Apache Hadoop

SAN FRANCISCO, April 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Red Hat Summit- Hortonworks, the leading contributor to and provider of enterprise Apache™ Hadoop®, today announced the latest addition to its joint engineering alliance with Red Hat Inc., the world's leading provider of open source solutions, including integration of OpenShift, Red Hat's award-winning Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering, with Hortonworks Data Platform, bringing Hadoop to the open hybrid cloud. OpenShift integration with Hadoop will be highlighted at Red Hat Summit in San Francisco, April 14-17.

In February, Red Hat and Hortonworks announced a comprehensive open source initiative to deliver infrastructure solutions to bring 100-percent open source Hadoop to the hybrid cloud. OpenShift is the latest addition to the growing collaboration between Hortonworks and Red Hat and will enable customers to quickly and easily develop modern analytic applications in Hadoop.

With OpenShift and Hadoop, developers will have the ability to rapidly develop and deploy application stacks on Hortonworks Data Platform, enabling them to more easily exploit multiple data types, including: sensor and machine-generated data, server logs, social, clickstream, and geo-location data currently stored in Hadoop. Additionally, developers will be able to standardize their workflow and create repeatable processes for application delivery, streamlining application development while tapping into unprecedented insight and value from data stored in Hadoop.
