Apprion Extends Offering to Upstream and Midstream Applications With Global Cellular Support for the 4G Mobile Network

Industrial Wireless Leaders Expand ION System Networking to Incorporate Cellular 3G/4G/LTE Modules in ION Products for Industrial Networks

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/02/14 -- Apprion, the leader in industrial application systems and services, today announced new network communication functionality with 4G Mobile Network support ideal for upstream, midstream and greenfield facilities. Apprion's core ION System products incorporate Cellular 3G/4G/LTE modules for increased bandwidth, faster data transfer, better coverage and uninterrupted connectivity. The latest ION 4G upgrade includes an additional backhaul function using Cellular 3G/4G/LTE adding more range and spectrum for data transfer in industrial facilities.

4G Mobile Networks introduced a number of key benefits and improvements over its predecessors: much more coverage (30 miles and more), more resilient networking by supporting WWAN, coverage that overlaps network ranges so users are assured complete connectivity at all times, complete privacy, additional security and safety and most notably -- remarkable speed with increased bandwidth for faster data transfer and uninterrupted connectivity.

"We are always looking for ways to expand our ION System offering by designing and engineering innovative products, supporting cutting-edge technologies, adhering to industry standards and addressing the critical needs of our customers," said Warren Smith, Apprion's VP of Engineering. "Adding 4G Mobile Network support to our ION Product offering opens up a whole new range of spectrum for use in the industrial space."

ION System products with 4G support include:

  • IONizers™ - Industrial rated wireless networking appliance that seamlessly integrate wireless sensor network gateways to support industrial wireless applications.
  • IONizer Connect - Industrial wireless device for interfacing and backhauling data from legacy sensors and real-time communication between critical data points in the network.
  • ION Mustering Towers & Stations - Industrial wireless mustering devices positioned at key locations to clearly mark mustering locations and verify the location and status of personnel during an emergency.

Apprion's ION System includes an expandable software and hardware platform that streams real-time intelligence from multiple applications and devices, including the ION 4G Mobile Network devices, into a common dashboard view for plant operators. The ION System allows centralized management of multi-vendor wireless devices to ensure that industrial applications throughout facilities perform reliably and cost-effectively. The ION System includes multiple industrial wireless applications that span the full range of customer needs, including condition monitoring, security, safety, video, location, communications, and mobility.

Digital Transformation is much more than a buzzword. The radical shift to digital mechanisms for almost every process is evident across all industries and verticals. This is often especially true in financial services, where the legacy environment is many times unable to keep up with the rapidly shifting demands of the consumer. The constant pressure to provide complete, omnichannel delivery of customer-facing solutions to meet both regulatory and customer demands is putting enormous pressure on...
IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h...
The standardization of container runtimes and images has sparked the creation of an almost overwhelming number of new open source projects that build on and otherwise work with these specifications. Of course, there's Kubernetes, which orchestrates and manages collections of containers. It was one of the first and best-known examples of projects that make containers truly useful for production use. However, more recently, the container ecosystem has truly exploded. A service mesh like Istio addr...

To Really Work for Enterprises, MultiCloud Adoption Requires Far Better and Inclusive Cloud Monitoring and Cost Management … But How? Overwhelmingly, even as enterprises have adopted cloud computing and are expanding to multi-cloud computing, IT leaders remain concerned about how to monitor, manage and control costs across hybrid and multi-cloud deployments. It’s clear that traditional IT monitoring and management approaches, designed after all for on-premises data centers, are falling short in ...
