Marvell has comprehensive, end-to-end solutions that are designed to touch every aspect of the expansive Smart Life and Smart Lifestyle ecosystem. Marvell will showcase the following solutions during Interop on April 1-3, 2014 in meeting room Reef F at Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Marvell is introducing new devices optimized for software-defined storage, networking and compute solutions for a new generation of networks. The Prestera DX family offers 28nm packet processing solutions built for application driven resource management and services delivery. The DX8216 enables native 10GbE connectivity for servers and system control planes while the DX32xx/DX33xx are optimized to address intelligent switching, security and performance at the access/edge of campus networks.
Alaska is a comprehensive family of physical layer transceivers supporting optical and copper media with advanced high-speed Ethernet connectivity products. At Interop, Marvell will be demonstrating, for the first time, its recently announced Alaska X 88X3240P quad-port Ethernet PHY, designed to bring the benefits of the IEEE 10GBASE-T standard to a host of equipment types, ranging from data center and enterprise switches to storage and server equipment. The 88X3240P is designed to deliver 10Gbps Ethernet connectivity over unshielded twisted-pair copper cabling adhering to structured wiring rules and distances in excess of 100 meters. With low power consumption and an ultra-small 23mm x 23mm package, the device is ideally suited for high-density applications such as top of rack switches.
Marvell continues to innovate infrastructure and data center solutions with its latest family of 28nm programmable network processors ranging from 100Gbps to 400Gbps packet processing performance. The Xelerated family includes the AX2140, AX3140, HX4130 and HX4136 devices – all wire-speed by design to maximize performance with minimal software development time and resources. The Xelerated family provides a highly advanced and highly integrated 700+ multi-core processor solution through its hyper-efficient and only deterministic, flexible packet processing architecture. Additionally, the Xelerated family delivers carrier-grade traffic management capabilities enabling converged wireless and wireline infrastructure solutions to be deployed with the greatest service density, fastest service velocity in the least number of disparate equipment to ultimately reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of the network. The roll-out of mobile and content store/delivery services that maximize user Quality of Experience (QoE) are expected to be easily achieved with the Xelerated solutions by enabling service-aware traffic forwarding and adaptive load balancing capabilities for next-generation software defined storage, networking, compute and mobility platforms while minimizing OPEX.
The Marvell ARMADA family is the sixth-generation, comprehensive product family of SMB, enterprise and carrier-class high-efficient multi-core ARM-based System-on-Chips (SoCs). The ARMADA 38x devices, the latest additions to the ARMADA family, are dual/single-core 1.6 GHz Cortex A9-based SoCs in 28nm process technology, which incorporate various I/O peripherals designed to enable seamless device integration at high performance in a small form factor and low power system design. The high CPU frequency allows implementation of variety of applications and services in power sensitive environments, aligning perfectly with IoT concept. ARMADA 38x devices support Reliability Availability and Serviceability (RAS) features and latest IO technologies, such DDR4, USB 3.0 and SATA 3.0 that are required by an Enterprise Class platform with a long life cycle.
The ARMADA 38x devices are fully optimized to consume very low power [enabling a variety of wired and wireless solutions including high performance 802.11ac Access Points based on Marvell's advanced Avastar Wi-Fi family, High Volume NAS platforms, and networking applications, all at a cost-effective price point.
The Marvell ARMADA 1500 family of processors delivers 3D video, impressively rich audio, striking 3D graphics and TV-friendly Web content. The newest edition to the award-winning ARMADA 1500 SoC family, the ARMADA 1500 PRO (88DE3114) is a quad-core platform optimized to support services for Smart TV with complete IP-hybrid service security from Verimatrix. The high performing multi-core ARM CPU platform is designed to power a highly immersive, innovative, and secure High Definition digital experience in the consumer's living room and across multiple screens, driving the convergence of digital entertainment and gaming applications and paving the way for the next-generation of Smart Home devices. The ARMADA 1500 Plus (88DE3108) offers significantly improved graphics performance, real-time 1080p video encode capabilities, Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, as well as an enhanced security engine that further facilitates more seamless adoption by service operators, and is ideal for set-top-boxes, over-the-top media players, hybrid set-top boxes and Smart TVs. The Marvell ARMADA 1500-mini is a game-changing multi-screen solution designed to drive the new era of the connected lifestyle.
The recently announced Marvell AVANTA LP SoC family is based on ARM Cortex-A9 architecture and is designed to meet the latest requirements for modern, high-speed Internet networks. The AVANTA LP product line addresses the fast-growing demand for optical network terminals (ONT) by presenting a highly integrated and power-efficient solution to expand the successful AVANTA family of Universal Passive Optical Networks (UPON) processors for fiber-to-the-x (FTTX) broadband applications. In conjunction with Marvell G.hn, G.now, Avastar and ARMADA product lines – AVANTA LP provides a solid foundation for ultra-high speed access networks and a rich portfolio of SoCs for Home Routers and Enterprise Access Points.
G.now is a game-changing technology that is designed to enable service providers to deliver gigabit-class broadband services over existing phone wires, avoiding the need for costly investments in new fiber networks. Marvell's G.now offering is based on standard G.hn technology, which can operate at line rates up to 1 Gbit/s second over phone lines, in both symmetric and asymmetric configuration. Marvell's G.now technology includes advanced algorithms to mitigate both Near-End and Far-End Crosstalk (NEXT & FEXT) and allow for automatic retransmission and error correction for zero-loss service, and two-pair bonding support. G.now is designed for easy integration with other Marvell products such as Alaska, AVANTA, ARMADA, Prestera and Avastar. G.now silicon is shipping today.
