Legba and Null Team announce the launch of YateBTS 1.0

SAN FRANCISCO and BUCHAREST, Romania, Feb. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Legba Inc. and Null Team SRL, two innovative companies in the open-source mobile industry, announce the release of YateBTS. YateBTS uses the GSM air interface from the award-wining OpenBTS, powered by the Yate technology.

Key Facts:

- YateBTS (YateBTS.com) is a long-term solution for rural telephone service and low-cost M2M applications, because it supports direct integration of 2.5G devices into 4G infrastructure.

- David Burgess, creator of OpenBTS, and Paul Chitescu, the main developer of Yate, started YateBTS as a fusion between Yate's industry-proven protocol processing and the all-software cellular transceiver from OpenBTS. Both of them saw a natural fit between the two projects and came to a quick agreement on the technical approach for the new product.

- YateBTS supports the same range of digital radios supported by the public release of OpenBTS.

- Yate's high scalability, proven by Google Voice, makes YateBTS suitable not just for small private networks, but for large multi-site installations.

Supporting Quotes

"The future is a world of mixed 2G/4G networks. YateBTS fits into this world by allowing operators to run 2.5G and 4G radio networks side-by-side on the same core network. YateBTS represents the next phase of what started with the OpenBTS project," David Burgess, original developer of OpenBTS and CEO of Legba, Inc.

"YateBTS makes the impossible possible in terms of mobile networking by adding intelligence and features to the most important component of the radio network, the BTS," Paul Chitescu, main developer of Yate at Null Team SRL
